The last week of October is the busiest of the autumn at the Belgrade Fair. Until Saturday, 31 October, four events share the grounds on Bulevar vojvode Mišića. The 69th International Belgrade Book Fair is entering its final days. It is joined by the 55th Education and Teaching Aids Fair, the second Balkan Edu Expo and the 49th Medident, the fair of medicine and dentistry.
For visitors this means one trip and several shows. For exhibitors and contractors it means four sets of build-ups and breakdowns in the same few days, which matters when booking crews, vans and loading slots.
The Book Fair: final days and a handover
The 69th Book Fair opened on 23 October under the slogan "Reči grade svet" (Words build the world), with Tunisia as guest of honour. According to Tanjug, as reported by B92, it has about 300 direct exhibitors, or nearly 700 including indirect ones. Thirteen other countries are taking part, from Greece and Italy to Morocco and Iran.
The layout is spread across several halls:
- Hall 1: domestic publishers, selling only their own titles;
- Hall 2: Tunisia's stand, foreign exhibitors, national presentations and school and professional publishers;
- Hall 4: domestic and foreign publishers, state institutions, religious publishers, distributors and an antiquarian section.
Thursday, 29 October, is School Day, when awards go to the most successful publishers in several categories. On Saturday, 31 October, at 12:00, the Open Book passes to the United Arab Emirates, guest of honour of the 70th fair in 2027.
Kurir lists opening hours of 10:00 to 20:00, individual tickets at 450 dinars, group tickets at 350 dinars and parking at 300 dinars an hour.
Education Fair, Balkan Edu Expo and Medident
The 55th Education and Teaching Aids Fair runs from 27 to 31 October in Hall 2C, alongside the Book Fair. The Belgrade Fair calendar also lists the 2nd Balkan Edu Expo on 29–30 October.
The 49th Medident opens in Hall 3 on Thursday, 29 October. It covers dental, medical and laboratory equipment, pharmaceutical products and medical services, with domestic and foreign exhibitors. The organiser calls it the oldest and largest fair of its kind in the region, held for more than four decades. Hours are 10:00–19:00 on 29 and 30 October and 10:00–18:00 on 31 October. A single ticket costs 800 dinars, a group ticket (at least eight people) 500 dinars. Exhibitor and visitor numbers have not been published.
What it means for exhibitors and contractors
Medident builds up while the Book Fair is still open, and all four events close on the same day. Expect pressure on access roads, parking and goods entrances on the evening of 31 October, when breakdown starts in several halls at once.
For stand builders and AV firms, Medident is the more demanding client. Medical equipment stands often need stronger floors, extra power and secure storage for expensive demo units. Book Fair stands are simpler, but there are many more of them, and the shelving, counters and graphics have to come out quickly.
It is also a good week to observe. The Book Fair is one of the most visited events of the year in Belgrade. Comparing how publishers and national pavilions handle crowds, signage and sales points is useful for anyone planning stands for the busy season that comes with Expo 2027.
